San Diego Assistive Technology Center (SDATC)
At the San Diego Assistive Technology Center (SDATC), we empower individuals to find the right assistive technology solutions through hands-on exploration of adapted computers, communication devices (AAC), and environmental controls that support independence and everyday success.
Mission of SDATC
- Support families in helping their children reach their full potential by providing access to toys as learning tools
- Develop strategies to assist non-speaking individuals to communicate independently
- Assist people who use AAC in developing consistent communication that facilitates independence
- Train and support the community through educational opportunities focusing on assistive technology
- Collaborate with community partners to ensure life-changing technology becomes accessible

Anyone! The SDATC is available to individuals with disabilities, their families, professionals and the community at large!
Services Offered Through SDATC
The McBeth Foundation Toy Lending Library
Mobile library designed to serve you in your own community. Our Mobile van travels throughout the county, using libraries, churches, recreation centers and Boys and Girls Clubs as play sites.
Funding Advocacy Assistance
Provide no-cost, one-to-one advocacy services to obtain funding for AAC devices and computer technology.
Information and Referral Services
Provide information about assistive technology, funding eligibility and various complementary services.
Workshops and Presentations
Learn more about augmentative communication and assistive technology.
Individual Lab Appointment
Set appointment with SDATC staff for specific information about equipment and software. One hour FREE.
Full AAC Assessment
Staff conduct full interdisciplinary team assessments to match consumers to the most appropriate AAC system.
Equipment Loan Program
We are a contractor with the state-wide Ability Tools Loan Program which provides free AT equipment loans.
